Art School
Established in 2007, the School of Art consists of 2 departments and 6 specialties, among which Audiovisual Technology is rated as the key specialty of high-level model universities in Tianjin, while Artistic Design for Products is rated as the key specialty at municipal level, and Visual Communication Design and Production is rated as the key specialty in the university. In 2016, a new undergraduate specialty, Fine Arts, was successfully approved, and it started to admit students from 2017. The School of Art boasts the youngest faculty team in the university, teeming with vigorous and hard-working spirit. We have 36 faculty and staff with an average age of 37.6. Among them, 29 are full-time and 4 are part-time teachers, including 10 with associate professional title (accounting for 27.8%), 16 with intermediate professional title (accounting for 44.4%), and 4 with primary professional title (accounting for 27.8%). As for the educational background, 2 teachers hold Doctorate Degree (accounting for 6%), 33 with Master Degree (accounting for 91%) and 1 with Bachelor Degree (accounting for 3%). In addition, we have 8 associate professors, and invite 1 German expert and 5 guest professors, including 2 national-level master of arts and crafts, and other professors and specialists from leading art colleges.
In recent years, by virtue of the financial support worth more than 10 million RMB from both the Central Government level and Tianjin Municipality level, the School of Art have built 25 well-equipped training labs to provide practice base for students. In order to promote the protection of the intangible cultural techniques and the construction of campus culture, the Intangible Cultural Techniques Research Center in our school has built four study rooms dedicated to“lacquer art”, “metal art”, “painted sculpture” and “fiber art” respectively, which at the same time provides high quality training bases and actual training programs to students majoring in Fine Arts.
The School of Art attaches great importance to the international and school-enterprise cooperation, and hold rich experience under the belt. For example, we have a close relationship with universities from different countries like Singapore, Canada, Italy, Germany, and Korea, as well as regions like Hongkong and Taiwan. Each year, outstanding teachers and students are selected and sent to the developed countries and regions for academic visits or exchange programs. Foreign experts are also regularly invited to our school to provide trainings to teachers and students. We have signed cooperation agreements with a number of leading enterprises and institutions to jointly develop curriculum and build training bases. For years, the school has cultivated a large number of outstanding students who won awards in various art design competitions. Up to now, more than 60 art design awards have been won by teachers and students, including over 20 awards at the national level and 40 more at the municipal level. Each year, more than 98% of graduates are employed, making great contributions to Culture and Art Industry. Professional skills, earnest attitude and enterprising spirit possessed by our graduates have always been praised and appreciated by many employers.
